One reader's rave

"Thanks for the newspaper with your book review. I can’t tell you how impressed I am with this terrific piece of writing. It is beautiful, complex, scholarly. Only sorry Mr. Freire cannot read it!" -- Ailene

10/10: Rally to Defend the Organizers of the Jan 23 Minneapolis General Strike

This event is being organized by Socialist Alternative:

Last year, the working class of the Twin Cities, MN mounted a heroic fightback against the ICE invasion of their cities and state kidnapping and murder of their neighbors, culminating in the first general strike in the United States in over 80 years – and they won, forcing the full-scale invasion to pull back.

Now, the monstrous Trump regime is retaliating, ramping up its ICE attacks again and trying 15 of the leaders of Minneapolis’s anti-ICE struggle for conspiracy.

This pure and shameless political repression of organizers and these continued terroristic attacks on our communities will NOT stand! We are now in the next stage of the anti-ICE struggle, and just like before, we must fight back!

Join us Saturday, Oct. 10 at 5pm in the Workers United Union Hall (22 S 22nd St) for a mass meeting to defend the Minnesota 15 and abolish ICE! We will hear from Treasure Thorson, one of the 15 defendants in this political attack and a member of the Minneapolis Federation of Educators!

To draw out as many working people in Philadelphia as we can, we are having a public speakout and flyering, postering & outreach blitz on Saturday, Oct. 3 at 1 o’clock starting at City Hall – all are welcome!

STOP the attacks on the Minnesota 15!

STOP ICE kidnappings, detentions, and violence in our cities!

ABOLISH ICE!
