How Polarization Produces Misinformation

 


 

With extreme partisan polarization, many people are on a hair trigger to see evidence confirming their worst beliefs about the other side, which they promptly spread without waiting to make sure they've interpreted it correctly. This story about a case of "vote fraud that wasn't" is a perfect example.
